VW announced that it has suspended operations for ten days, starting on Monday, May 20, at three of its factories in Brazil due to a shortage of parts following the floods in the southern region of the country in recent weeks.
In a statement, the German brand mentioned that operations at the three factories in the state of São Paulo are suspended until June 3 due to the impact of the floods, which led to the shutdown of several parts suppliers’ factories located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The measure to suspend operations at the VW factories in the state of São Paulo does not affect the brand’s factory in the neighboring state of Paraná, which continues to operate normally.
VW also indicated that the factories where operations were suspended for 10 days employ around 6,200 people, who produce the Nivus, Virtus, Polo, Saveiro, and Polo Track models, as well as the engines for all its models in Brazil.
