VW has announced that it has started production of the special edition ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice at the Zwickau factories and the Transparent Factory in Dresden, Germany.
The model, developed in collaboration with Bogner, the luxury sports fashion brand based in Munich, evokes the legendary Golf Fire and Ice, which became an unexpected success in the 90s and has since achieved cult status among fans.
The special edition ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice is limited to 1990 units, as expected, and will be available with two powertrain options: an entry-level version with 286 hp and the top-of-the-line variant with 326 hp. In both versions, the electric motor delivers a maximum torque of 545 Nm.
In the more powerful version, the special edition ID.3 GTX accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of up to 200 km/h. Additionally, this version includes the DCC sports chassis as standard, and it is also available as an option for the 286 hp version.
The electric motor is powered by a 79 kWh (usable) lithium-ion battery, which can be charged at DC fast charging stations up to 185 kW. With this power, it is possible to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in about 26 minutes. The combined WLTP range can reach up to 591 km.
Aesthetically, the exterior highlight of the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice stands out with its Ultra Violet Metallic paint. This unique color scheme pays homage to the legendary predecessor Golf, which was available in a similar shade. The roof trim enhances the sporty character with its anodized Flaming Red paint, while the C pillar features a transparent matte decal with the Fire+Ice geometric pattern.
