VW revealed two images of the prototype for the upcoming low-cost electric SUV, which will be presented on September 7, ahead of the Munich Motor Show in Germany.
Based on the production version of the subcompact ID. 2all, the prototype anticipates what will be the electric replacement for the current T-Cross, and will be one of the first electric models from VW to utilize the front-wheel-drive version of the MEB platform.
This compact SUV version of the ID.2all may be named ID.2 Cross/X, and visually presents a muscular image, generously sized wheels, light bars at the front and rear, retractable door handles, and a backlit VW logo.
VW spokesperson Stefan Voswinkel shared the two images of the new concept design on LinkedIn, where he added the comment, “We are shifting gears. Figuratively speaking, because what is coming is fully electric. Design that speaks for itself, a true Volkswahgen!”.
