VW revela pintura especial para celebrar 50 anos do Polo com estilo

VW continues to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Polo, and this time it has created a special paint job for a rally version of the popular model from the German brand.

The paint job of this special and original Polo was revealed at an event in Bicester Motion, UK, and was chosen by VW fans from four available designs. It combines the original colors of the special edition Polo Harlequin models from the 1990s, such as Chagallblau (blue), Flashrot (red), Ginstergelb (yellow), and Pistazie (green), with black graphics and “Polo 50 years.”

The Polo that received the special paint job is a replica of the Polo R World Rallycross from 2018. The wide body kit and aerodynamic features resemble the Polo R WRC driven by Sébastien Ogier, who dominated the World Rally Championship, winning all four titles between 2013 and 2016. In addition to the WRC, the Polo also found success in Rallycross, with Johan Kristoffersson winning no less than six titles since 2017.

Remember that the Polo Harlequin emerged in 1995 in Europe. Each one had four distinct colors, made possible by mixing and swapping body panels from various Polo vehicles. This color mixing was created as a code to simplify specifications even further and to identify each modular unit more easily. In this way, blue corresponded to the engine and chassis (mechanics), red to options, green to color choices, and yellow to equipment.

To introduce this code, VW produced 20 units of the Polo with this color scheme at the time, which were used in events at dealerships.

However, the German brand was surprised by the interest in purchasing this Polo Harlequin, and in 1995, it produced a special edition of the Polo, limited to 1,000 units, which were sold with this original color scheme.
