VW collaborated with Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment for the worldwide release of “Godzilla vs Kong: The New Empire”, a film that premiered worldwide on March 27th and where the ID.4, VW’s 100% electric model, is featured in an innovative cinematic experience.
Alongside the film’s release, VW and VW Japan, the country where Kong has become an icon of global pop culture, developed short-form content for social media, further solidifying the brand’s partnership with the film and reinforcing its commitment to global electrification.
It is worth noting that the initial teaser trailer for “Godzilla vs Kong: The New Empire”, revealed in December 2023, garnered over 100 million views. In addition to the early return of Rebecca Hall, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle, a new cast member emerged: the VW ID.4, joining its human and monstrous counterparts on screen.
“In addition to all the intense monster action, the film has many fun and exciting moments that really touch us at Volkswagen. We worked closely with our team at Volkswagen Japan in the production to bring the fully electric ID.4 closer to a wide group of customers in Japan and ignite their enthusiasm for sustainable mobility,” said Imelda Labbé, member of the Volkswagen brand’s Board of Directors, responsible for Sales, Marketing, and After Sales.
