After about five and a half years of producing fully electric vehicles, VW’s electric vehicle factory in Zwickau, Germany, has just broken the barrier of one million units produced.
The German brand announced that the millionth unit was an ID.3 GTX Performance, in Kings Red Metallic, destined for a customer in Bavaria. “The production of one million electric cars represents a great achievement for the workforce. Despite the numerous challenges in recent years, the team has always delivered the models on time, with reliability and high quality,” said Danny Auerswald, Chairman of the Board of VW Sachsen GmbH.
Currently, the VW factory in Zwickau produces six electric models: the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, Audi Q4 e-tron, Q4 Sportback e-tron, as well as the Cupra Born, which has allowed VW’s electric vehicle production unit to produce 204,000 vehicles in 2024.
