Vowles in negotiations to bring Newey back to the Williams Formula 1 team.

Vowles em negociações para trazer Newey de volta à equipe Williams de Fórmula 1.

Adrian Newey, the Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull Racing, is being pursued by Williams Formula 1 team boss James Vowles to join their team after his tenure with Red Bull ends in 2025. Red Bull recently announced that Newey will be leaving next season, marking the end of his impressive 20-year career during which he secured 13 F1 championships. Known as the most renowned designer in the sport with 25 titles to his name, Newey has attracted interest from several teams, notably Ferrari. Reports from the Italian media suggest that Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur has been in talks with Newey about a possible super consultant role. However, Williams’ interest in acquiring Newey could potentially jeopardize Ferrari’s hopes.

Vowles, speaking to Autosport, expressed his admiration for Newey and confirmed that he has already had discussions with him. He emphasized Newey’s iconic status in the sport and acknowledged his significant impact on all the teams he has worked with. Vowles believes it would be a missed opportunity not to engage in discussions with Newey, given his track record of success. Although Newey previously worked with Williams in the 1990s, where he played a crucial role in securing four separate championships, Vowles noted that talks with Newey are still in the early stages.

Vowles also recognized the massive task ahead for Williams, regardless of whether they secure Newey’s services. He stressed that their focus is on the substantial work that needs to be done to improve the team’s performance. While discussions with Newey have been preliminary, Vowles described the potential partnership between Newey and Williams as a dream team.
