Volvo XC40 e C40 Recharge recebem novos nomes

Volvo has announced that it has decided to simplify the name of its electric models, in line with the electrification strategy to become a 100% electric brand by 2030.

Thus, the fully electric models XC40 and C40 Recharge have been renamed to EX40 and EC40, respectively, joining other models in the electric range, such as EX30, EX90, and EM90.

However, the Swedish brand has stated that the XC40 name will remain for the combustion engine variants of the model.

The update of Volvo’s model names also includes the plug-in hybrid models with the Recharge designation, which will now be referred to as T6 or T8, indicating different power levels.

“By aligning our first electric models with the rest of the electric range, we simplify consumers’ choices as we continue to electrify our range and update our hybrids.”, says Björn Annwall, Volvo’s commercial director.

In addition to receiving new names, the EX40 and EC40 are now available with a new Performance software package that increases the power of the Twin Motor version to 436 hp.
