Volvo is working to launch an electric sedan that will replace the S90, and according to international press, it is being developed in China, under the name V551, where the first prototypes of the future model have already been built.
Unlike the S90, the new sedan will be exclusively electric and everything points to it being called the ES90, and the Swedish publication Teknikens Vard has already announced that production of the new model is scheduled to start in May of next year, and it is expected to be based on the SPA2 platform, specifically designed for electric models and used by the EX90 and the Polestar 3.
The new Volvo model may have a version with a rear-wheel drive electric motor and another version with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, which is expected to use a 111 kWh battery pack, the same as planned for the EX90.
