Volvo will end production of the S60 at the Ridgeville factory in South Carolina, USA, at the end of June.
According to “Motor Authority”, the confirmation of the end of the S60 line was made by the brand’s spokesperson, Russell Datz. The third generation of the Volvo S60, launched in 2019, was the first version of the sedan produced in the USA.
However, the decline in sales of the model, which globally sold 40,153 units in 2023, and the increasing demand for SUV models, led to the end of production in the USA of the well-known model from the Swedish brand.
The Ridgeville factory will now focus on the production of the EX90, the Swedish brand’s third 100% electric model, and the second one developed specifically with this technology. It promises to be the safest model ever built by the Swedish brand. For this, the new Volvo SUV is equipped with the most advanced safety and driving support systems, eight cameras, five radars, and 16 ultrasonic sensors, along with a standard LiDAR sensor to control the vehicle’s surroundings, with all information being processed using NVIDIA technology.
In addition to the EX90, the Polestar 3 will also enter production soon at the Ridgeville factory.
