Volvo celebra o 98.º aniversário da produção do primeiro automóvel

Volvo Cars is celebrating its 98th anniversary, a journey that began on April 14, 1927, when the first model, the Volvo ÖV4, nicknamed “Jakob,” rolled out of the factory in Lundby, Sweden.

From the beginning, Volvo’s mission has focused on people’s safety, which throughout history has translated into a legacy of innovation, safety, and sustainability that the brand has been building over the decades.

With an unwavering commitment to safety, Volvo has pioneered numerous technological innovations, including the development of the three-point seatbelt, the introduction of the third brake light, airbags, pedestrian, cyclist, and animal detection with automatic braking, among many other advancements that have made Volvo cars synonymous with protection.

At 98 years old, Volvo currently employs approximately 42,600 people and operates in various global locations, including Gothenburg (Sweden), Ghent (Belgium), South Carolina (USA), and several cities in China, in addition to having research and development centers in Gothenburg and Shanghai.

It should be noted that Volvo sold a total of 763,389 vehicles in 2024, setting a new record for the Swedish manufacturer, which plans to launch five new models this year, including those already presented: EX30 Cross Country, a more radical version designed for off-road use of the EX30, as well as ES90, Volvo’s top-of-the-line electric sedan.

In addition, the Swedish brand, founded by Assar Gabrielsson and Gustav Larson, recently announced the appointment of Hakan Samuelsson as the new CEO, replacing Jim Rowan, who led the company for the past three years.
