Volkswagen, Audi e Porsche vão adotar a norma de carregamento elétrico da Tesla

Volkswagen has announced changes to its strategy towards electric mobility, and among the changes is the decision to adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) for electric vehicles.

Therefore, subsidiaries Audi, Porsche, and Scout Motors will also implement NACS in their North American electric vehicles starting in 2025.

Volkswagen intends for vehicles produced in North America to be the first to be equipped with the North American charging standard, and the remaining brands of the Volkswagen Group are considering the possibility of providing adapters to owners of models already in circulation so that they can access the network of over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers in North America.

“This is excellent news for our electric vehicle customers in the North American region. It allows them to have access to over 15,000 additional charging points, as well as the current approximately 4,000 fast DC charging points operated by Electrify America. This means that customers of our fast-selling electric vehicles, such as the Volkswagen ID.4, will have access to an extensive and growing charging network,” emphasized Pablo Di Si, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America.

Volkswagen’s adoption of NACS follows the growing trend in the automotive industry, as brands such as GM, Volvo, Polestar, Mercedes, Honda, BMW, and Lucid have made it clear that they will adopt the same system in the coming years.
