The Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, VinFast, is in negotiations with several component manufacturers to have more suppliers from India.
According to the company’s CEO, Pham Sanh Chau, the Vietnamese brand intends for some of its current component suppliers to transfer part of their production to the industrial park in India, where VinFast Asia inaugurated its first factory outside Vietnam this Monday.
Global manufacturers are increasingly looking to diversify their supply chains by shifting production to India, as rising geopolitical tensions, trade restrictions, and cost pressures make China less attractive as the sole production base. VinFast plans to launch its models in India later this month, although no date has been announced for the launch of the Vietnamese brand’s models.
It is worth noting that VinFast announced in early 2025 its intention to enter the European market in the coming years, having presented at CES in Las Vegas the VF 3, a small 100% electric SUV, launched this summer in Vietnam and which the brand will begin to market in the U.S., with expectations that it will arrive in Europe later.
