The driver found the initial adjustment challenging, stating, “The orientation was a bit of a difficulty at the beginning – like kind of knowing what side of the track I’m on.” However, as he embraced the learning curve, he noted, “After that, you get the hang of it.”
Completing an impressive 97 laps, Schumacher expressed confidence in the progress he made during this crucial test. “I think one of the weird parts of coming to test on an oval for the first time was going into the corner without braking,” he said, emphasizing the unique demands of oval racing compared to traditional circuits. “As we were getting into a better spot with the car, things started to feel a bit more natural and a bit more self-explanatory.”

Discussing the testing conditions, he remarked, “The weather is great and conditions are a bit tricky with the wind blowing and being gusty.” His experience on the oval was not just about speed; it included experimenting with different lines on the track, determining the best approach for upcoming races. “I was definitely trying out different lines, either going on the high line or the low line, trying to see what the differences are,” he said, emphasizing the importance of understanding the track dynamics before facing off against competitors.

Despite the challenges, he believes they are on the right track to be fully prepared for the first race in St. Petersburg. “It was about trying to figure out what I could do before the first real test in Phoenix where everybody will be on track,” he explained.
