VIDEO – McLaren’s 2026 F1 livery sparks outrage: fans demand bold changes for new era

Title: McLaren’s 2026 F1 Livery Unveiling Sparks Mixed Reactions: Fans Left Wanting More!

In a highly anticipated reveal on February 9, McLaren finally showcased its 2026 Formula 1 livery, but the reaction from fans has been anything but enthusiastic. As the second-to-last team to unveil its design, the Woking-based squad faced the tough challenge of meeting the sky-high expectations set by a fervent fanbase. Unfortunately, the response has been lukewarm, with many feeling that the new livery fails to break new ground.

Staying true to its roots, McLaren opted to stick with its iconic papaya color scheme, featuring bold black accents and the signature diagonal black stripes on the sidepods. However, this decision has left many fans scratching their heads, wondering if the team has become complacent. One disappointed fan took to Reddit to express their feelings, stating, “Spoiler alert: it's the same. As Zak put it during launch: We don't want to change what's been successful, and papaya looks amazing.” This sentiment was echoed by another user who quipped, “So basically McLaren will put the same livery out every season until they start making sh**boxes again.”

Critics were quick to highlight the lack of innovation, with one fan remarking, “Basically the same. Ehhh. Guess it’s OK, but I was genuinely excited for something a bit different.” The call for change seems to resonate with many who feel that McLaren's desire to brand itself akin to Ferrari has resulted in a stagnant design approach. “The papaya colours will be more of their signature mark now,” another fan noted, hinting at a future filled with more of the same.

While some fans voiced their disappointment, there were still a handful of supporters who praised the continuity in design. “Maybe it's a hot take, but I really like the papaya liveries, and I don't think they need to make radical changes to it,” one optimist chimed in, suggesting that the familiar look might have its own charm.

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown addressed the reasoning behind the minimal changes during the launch event, stating, “That's intentional. We don't want to change what's been successful. And the papaya looks amazing. Our partners are awesome. This Mastercard era, Gemini with Google, and OKX… I mean, the list goes on of just unbelievable companies that are supporting us.” Brown added that the cars have undergone slight modifications, emphasizing the power of the new HPP Mercedes engine, which he described as “amazing.” He eagerly anticipates the upcoming racing season, stating, “So, I'm looking forward to getting racing.”

Despite the mixed reviews, McLaren remains committed to its established identity, but whether this will resonate with fans in the relentless world of Formula 1 remains to be seen. As the season looms closer, one thing is for sure: the pressure is on McLaren to deliver results that match their iconic livery. Will they rise to the occasion, or will fans continue to yearn for a bold new vision? Only time will tell.
