VIDEO – Lando Norris and Max Verstappen’s shocking near-crash in Abu Dhabi: title battle intensifies!

Title: Lando Norris and Max Verstappen’s Heart-Stopping Near Miss at Abu Dhabi GP!

In a jaw-dropping moment during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, McLaren’s Lando Norris found himself in a nail-biting showdown with reigning champion Max Verstappen, claiming over the team radio that he “almost crashed” into the Dutch driver! The adrenaline-fueled drama unfolded during the second practice session (FP2) as tensions rose on the track amid the fierce battle for the F1 2025 championship.

As the action heated up on the iconic Yas Marina Circuit, Verstappen had just completed a timed lap when confusion erupted. His race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, initially informed him that Norris was not in a position to threaten, stating, “You’ve got Norris… not opening a lap behind you.” However, the situation took a dramatic turn when Lambiase quickly realized that Norris was indeed on a hot lap, urgently adding, “Or maybe he is… coming through!”

With seconds to spare, Verstappen made a split-second decision, veering to the left of the track as the McLaren closed in. The near collision left Norris visibly frustrated, as he vented over the team radio, “What’s this guy doing? Almost crashed.” This tense exchange highlights the razor-thin margins that define F1 racing, especially at such a pivotal point in the season.

The stewards at Race Control took note of the incident but deemed it not serious enough to warrant further action, leaving fans buzzing about the close call. Yet, the excitement didn’t stop there! Norris had a stellar day, emerging as the fastest driver in FP2, finishing with an impressive 0.363-second lead over Verstappen, further fueling the ongoing rivalry.

Meanwhile, Norris’s teammate and fellow title contender, Oscar Piastri, faced a challenging session, finishing in 11th place after a heavy lockup during his qualifying simulation. Piastri trailed Norris by 0.680 seconds, marking his first appearance of the weekend as he had to step back in FP1, allowing rookie driver Patricio O’Ward to take the wheel.

As it stands, Norris leads the F1 2025 title chase with a slender 12-point advantage over Verstappen, who continues to chase his fifth world championship. Piastri is also in the mix, a mere four points behind his teammate, intensifying the stakes as they head into the season finale. This is the first championship battle to go down to the wire since 2021, with memories of the 2010 season still fresh in fans’ minds, where multiple drivers entered the final race with a chance to snatch the crown.

With the pressure mounting and team dynamics shifting, all eyes will be on McLaren as they weigh their options. Will team orders come into play? Can Norris fend off the relentless challenge from Verstappen? The stage is set for an unforgettable climax to the F1 2025 season in Abu Dhabi—fans won’t want to miss a second of the action!
