Kyle Larson’s attempt to do the Double was thwarted by bad weather this week. The Hendrick Motorsports driver had high hopes and aspirations, but unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans. His quest to compete in both the Indy 500 and the Coca Cola 600 ended in disappointment. Larson was unable to achieve the desired result at the Brickyard and did not have enough time to race in Charlotte.
Due to heavy rain that caused a significant delay at the Indy 500, Hendrick Motorsports faced a tough decision. They had to start the 600-mile race without Kyle Larson behind the wheel. Another driver took his place temporarily until the 2021 Cup champion returned to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Larson expressed his frustration after finishing 18th at the Brickyard, as he arrived at the NASCAR race feeling disheartened.
Larson couldn’t believe the storm that ruined his day in Indy also spoiled his night in Charlotte. In a state of frustration, he walked to a golf cart to leave the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
During a press interview about the disappointing conclusion of his race week, Larson expressed deep sadness about how everything went wrong. He acknowledged that the weekend he had been eagerly anticipating for a long time turned out to be a series of unfortunate events. Larson remains hopeful that if given the opportunity again, he will not encounter the same misfortunes.
