Vídeo: “John Hunter Nemechek acidentalmente replica manobra ‘hail melon’ de Ross Chastain, provocando incêndio de pneus em Martinsville, gerando reações dos fãs.”

John Hunter Nemechek suffered a Did Not Finish (DNF) at Martinsville Speedway after experiencing a flat tire later in the race. Nemechek, along with Ross Chastain, was involved in the incident. The NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville followed a similar pattern to the race the previous week in Richmond, with the lack of passing making it less exciting. However, a late incident led the race into overtime. In Richmond, it was a slide incident that caused the excitement, while in Martinsville, it was Nemechek’s teammate from Toyota that brought out the yellow flag.

On the penultimate lap, as Nemechek was approaching the turn, the right front tire of the No. 42 Legacy Motorsports Toyota Camry suddenly blew out. Nemechek was running close to the wall, causing him to collide with the wall at high speed before coming to a stop at the end of the turn. As the car moved away from the wall, the right rear tire was seen engulfed in flames.

This incident brought back memories of the infamous “hail melon” move by the Trackhouse Racing driver. In the 2022 R-8 playoff cutoff race, Chastain hit the wall to finish ahead of his rival and secure a spot in the championship-4 final. However, NASCAR later banned this move, citing safety concerns.

As a result of the incident, Nemechek was unable to finish the race and was credited with a 36th place. This completed a strange pattern for the Toyota driver, who started the 2024 season with a top-10 at Daytona, but then had three consecutive finishes outside the top-20, each worse than the previous one. However, he bounced back with a top-10 in Bristol before the poor placements in the next three races, including Martinsville. Fans will have to wait until the Texas race next week to see if this pattern continues.

The incident generated a viral response on NASCAR’s social media, with many references to the “hail melon” incident. Trackhouse Racing even responded to the video. Some fans showed sympathy for Nemechek for his bad luck, which ruined his day.

However, there were also some fans who created a crazy conspiracy theory involving Denny Hamlin. They claimed that NASCAR or Nemechek deliberately caused the incident and yellow flag to help Toyota win.

Overall, it was a humorous incident that unfortunately ended Nemechek’s day and disrupted his recovery efforts. Now, he will head to Texas Motor Speedway next week, hoping to make Legacy Motorsports’ cars more competitive.
