VIDEO – Joey Logano’s Daytona 500 Dream Ends in Carnage: A Devastating Wreck Shakes Up the Race

The 2025 Daytona 500 delivered its signature chaos, but for Joey Logano, it was a nightmare in motion. The three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion found himself in the thick of a brutal late-race wreck, dashing his hopes for victory in NASCAR’s biggest event.

After a promising start and overcoming early mechanical issues, Logano was poised for a late push with just 20 laps to go. He was running inside the top five, battling teammate Ryan Blaney as Team Penske looked ready to reclaim control of the race. But then, disaster struck.

The crash that changed everything

Logano, running on the outside, attempted to make a move when the No. 47 Chevrolet of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. threw a massive block. With Blaney on his inside, Logano had nowhere to go.

The result? A chain reaction of destruction.

“Big trouble on the backstretch! Blaney, Busch, Logano, and Elliott are all among those involved!” NASCAR’s broadcast called the chaos as it unfolded.

With no room to escape, Logano made heavy contact with Blaney, sending both cars careening into the wall. The incident collected multiple championship-caliber drivers, including Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott. The No. 4 Ford was also caught in the wreckage, turning what looked like a strategic Penske push into a nightmare.

While Blaney managed to salvage a P7 finish, the damage was too severe for Logano and Busch, forcing both to retire from the race. Elliott, another victim of the crash, limped home in P15.

But amid the wreckage, one driver thrived. Legacy MC’s driver capitalized on the chaos, securing a shocking P3 finish—the best result with the team he co-owns.

Logano explains what went wrong

As frustration boiled over among the drivers who were innocent bystanders, Logano reflected on what led to the carnage.

“Yeah, from my vantage point, I felt like I had to get to the second car in line to have a chance to win the thing, and I had an opportunity to get down in front of the 4 there,” Logano explained.

“And then the 47 kind of had a late block there, and at this point, like, it was kind of indecisive, and I was trying to back out of it at this point. I couldn’t. I was getting shoved into it at that point because the checkup already happened.”

From Logano’s perspective, Stenhouse Jr.’s aggressive block triggered the pileup, leaving him with no time to react. However, some of his fellow competitors weren’t as forgiving, believing the No. 22 driver should have been more cautious.

“He just wanted to block it,” Logano admitted, knowing his decision led to a race-changing wreck that took out multiple contenders.

A brutal start to the season for Logano

For Team Penske, what began as a promising Daytona 500 ended in devastation, with Logano’s wreck serving as the final gut punch. While Blaney salvaged a respectable finish, Logano’s DNF is a bitter pill to swallow.

Now, the focus shifts to how the No. 22 team will rebound from this setback. Daytona was always going to be unpredictable, but crashing out in the final stretch stings even more when a shot at victory was in sight.

For Logano, the season is far from over, but after such a rough start, all eyes will be on how he bounces back in the weeks ahead.

Will this wreck haunt his early-season form, or will Logano use it as fuel to reclaim his place at the front of the pack?

We won’t have to wait long to find out.
