Ford has once again stood out at the demanding Nürburgring Nordschleife by setting a new record among American manufacturers, with the GT Mk IV achieving a benchmark lap.

New American Record at the “Green Hell”

The Ford GT Mk IV completed the iconic German circuit in 6:15.977 minutes, becoming the fastest American car ever at the Nürburgring.

This time clearly surpasses the previous record of 6:49.275 minutes, set by the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, placing Ford in a dominant position among models from the United States.

Among the Fastest Ever

With this record, the GT Mk IV enters directly into the top of the circuit's historical times, occupying the third absolute position.

Only two models have managed to beat this time:

  • Volkswagen ID.R — 6:05.335
  • Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo — 5:19.546

Prototype Designed Exclusively for Track

The GT Mk IV was developed exclusively for use on the circuit, integrating the prototype category and not being homologated for road use.

This focus allowed Ford to maximize all performance parameters, from aerodynamics to power.

Extreme Aerodynamics and Dedicated Chassis

The model uses a carbon fiber structure developed by Multimatic, with an extended wheelbase and a “long tail” configuration.

The aerodynamics generate over 1,000 kg of downforce at high speeds, ensuring stability in extreme conditions.

EcoBoost Engine with Over 820 hp

At the heart of the GT Mk IV is a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost engine, capable of delivering over 820 hp, greatly surpassing the road version of the Ford GT.

Nürburgring Remains the Ultimate Test

The German circuit remains one of the most demanding in the world, with 73 corners and elevation changes exceeding 300 meters.

During the record lap, safety conditions limited the maximum speed to about 310 km/h, increasing the level of difficulty of the challenge.

Driver's Reaction

The official Ford driver, Frédéric Vervisch, described the car's behavior as extremely precise, highlighting the immediate response to every command.

Exclusivity and High Price

Introduced in 2022, the GT Mk IV is one of the most radical versions of the model, with limited production and a price in the range of 1.7 million dollars.

A Strong Comeback for Ford

With this record, Ford reinforces its presence at the Nürburgring and demonstrates that, even in the era of electrification, combustion engines can still assert themselves in terms of extreme performance.
