Justin Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive back, has boldly stated to TMZ Sports that his teammate, Patrick Mahomes, is not just in the race for the NFL’s Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) title but may have already overtaken Tom Brady for the coveted spot.

Reid lavished praise on Mahomes, asserting, “The guy is a Hall of Famer, first ballot. Probably the best player in NFL history. And he just keeps getting better.”

This acclaim comes shortly after Mahomes, at 28, led the Chiefs to victory over the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game. Reid confidently expressed that with Mahomes at the helm, the team always believes victory is within reach, regardless of the score. “You can be down 24,” he said, “You can be up 15. Whatever it is — as long as Fifteen has the ball in his hands, you know you’ve got a shot to win.”

While Reid’s views may be seen through the lens of teammate loyalty—Mahomes’ success could contribute to Reid’s second Super Bowl ring—the statistics lend credence to his claims. Mahomes is on the brink of his fourth Super Bowl appearance in just his sixth season as a starter, boasting two MVP titles and six Pro Bowl selections. His career achievements suggest that a Hall of Fame induction would be inevitable should he choose to retire after the upcoming Super Bowl.

Reid didn’t stop at praising Mahomes; he also commended his defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo, for his genuine care for the players. Reid’s admiration for Spagnuolo has even inspired him to create “In Spags We Trust” t-shirts, which he is selling to support a charitable cause.

The conversation with Reid also touched on the Chiefs’ Super Bowl adversaries, the 49ers, and his former Stanford teammate, Christian McCaffrey. Reid’s anticipation for a formidable showdown in Las Vegas on February 11 is palpable, signaling an exciting climax to the NFL season.
