The 2024 NASCAR Cup season got off to an early start with the postponement of the Los Angeles Clash at the Colosseum due to predicted inclement weather in the upcoming days. A member of Joe Gibbs Racing took advantage of a collision between two other drivers to seize the lead and secure a comfortable victory, fending off all challengers.

However, the drama did not end with the conclusion of the race. It instead ignited a series of confrontations. Joey Logano and Joe Gibbs engaged in a heated exchange, while Denny Hamlin made a salty comment directed at the fans who were booing him. Another incident involved drivers from 23XI Racing and Trackhouse Racing.

Following the race, Chastain retaliated against Reddick by repeatedly bumping into him during the cool-down lap, ultimately forcing him into the wall. Chastain’s actions were prompted by Reddick’s earlier spin, which resulted in Chastain’s car getting caught and coming to a halt, costing them valuable positions.

Reddick, when discussing the incidents, clarified that he held no grudges against Chastain. He emphasized that the incidents involving drivers outside the top 10 in the final laps were unnecessary.

Ross Chastain has a reputation for displaying unnecessary aggression on the track. As a result, fans were quick to criticize his actions. Some even questioned his motivation for retaliating, considering that the race holds little significance as a point-paying event. The Clash is primarily a race held for the purpose of entertainment.

Additionally, some fans took this opportunity to express their dissatisfaction with the race coverage provided by Fox Sports. They were unimpressed with the lack of replays and the fact that they had to rely on NASCAR’s social media for updates on the events of the race.

Is such clowning really necessary in a race that holds no value?

It’s essentially a preseason event, so what’s the point of it all? 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️

Looking for a driver who craves speed on the highway and enjoys leisure off the track! 🛣️🏁😴

It’s disheartening that after every @NASCARONFOX broadcast, fans have to turn to NASCAR’s social media to actually see what happened during the race. This speaks to the sorry state of production we are currently in.

This is the worst race I’ve ever witnessed in this sport, and to make matters worse, the stadium was empty. This should be the last time we hold this race here.

There’s a local go-kart track in Toledo that I am convinced would have been more entertaining and much more affordable. Just saying… 🙄👊🏼💥🏁
