Dale Jr. has always been a fervent supporter of local circuit racing. Being held on Easter Sunday, there was less viewership compared to last year’s Bristol dirt race, which took place on the same weekend. The NASCAR Hall of Fame, through its podcast, discussed the future of the track as the underwhelming races continue. He highlighted that the track is at risk of losing its second race date. The Teardown podcast has already reported that Richmond’s second race could be replaced as soon as 2025. Junior is frustrated with the possibility of losing another local circuit race to a mixed track weekend. He emphasized that the stubbornness of the track authorities is to blame for this situation. The two-time Xfinity Series champion has repeatedly called for the track to repave the asphalt, as they used to do in the past, but this suggestion has always been rejected. Junior, like the fans, wants the sport to remain true to its roots and continue racing on local circuits instead of abandoning them.
