Several drivers expressed dissatisfaction with the Next-Gen cars due to lack of power. Experienced veterans urged NASCAR to increase the power to around 1000HP, which would make overtaking easier on the straights. As a result, a debate emerged among a small group of fans about whether NASCAR should adopt the push to pass system used in IndyCar. However, not everyone is convinced by this proposal.
NASCAR has faced ongoing criticism for its insufficient power. In contrast, fans have expressed their disappointment with the lack of overtaking maneuvers and excitement during races. In response, NASCAR implemented changes such as single-nut pit stops and other adjustments. However, these efforts do not compare to the push to pass system introduced by IndyCar, which allows drivers to access additional power for a limited time, making overtaking easier.
This led fans to contemplate whether NASCAR should incorporate a push to pass system similar to IndyCar’s. However, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been a vocal critic and responded sarcastically. He suggested that if aids like push to pass were provided to drivers, they should also receive assistance with steering and brakes. Consequently, he rejected the suggestion with his sarcastic response.
No, what? Nah, man. If you can’t pass them, sorry, I’m not giving you assistance. And if they’re going to give a push-to-pass, they might as well give assistance with steering.
