VIDEO – Charles Leclerc Kicks Off Ferrari’s 2025 Campaign with SF-25 Shakedown: Aiming for Maiden Title

Charles Leclerc was the first to get behind the wheel of Ferrari’s highly anticipated SF-25 Formula 1 car during a shakedown at the Fiorano circuit on Wednesday. Less than 24 hours after Ferrari unveiled its new livery at the F1 75 launch event in London’s O2 Arena, the Scuderia was back on home turf in Italy, getting their latest machine ready for the season ahead.

Leclerc, eager to see the results of Ferrari’s hard work in the off-season, took the car out for its first laps as part of a planned 200km filming day. Despite Ferrari finishing second in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship by a narrow 14-point margin and securing five Grand Prix victories across the season, the team is fully committed to reshaping its car concept for 2025.

The SF-25 represents a complete evolution from its predecessor, the SF-24, with significant updates aimed at maximizing performance. Ferrari has stated that the SF-25 is “a complete evolution from every aspect,” with the most notable change coming in the form of a front suspension redesign—shifting from a pushrod to a pull-rod setup for the first time since 2015.

Ferrari’s Ambitious Changes for SF-25

Ferrari’s Technical Director, Loic Serra, explained the scope of the changes, revealing that nearly every aspect of the car had been revisited. “The SF-25 is an evolution of the SF-24, which gave us an excellent starting point to work from,” Serra said. “Having said that, we have worked hard, changing 99% of the car, evolving its architecture to maximize performance. The pull-rod front suspension is only the most obvious of many significant changes.”

With a closely contested 2024 season where results were often decided by mere thousandths of a second, Ferrari is expecting even more intense battles in 2025. Serra emphasized that every little margin could make the difference, stating, “We are all set to give it our best shot to find those gains, even the marginal ones, that can make the difference. We are looking forward to being competitive right from the very first race.”

Leclerc’s Personal Goal: A Maiden Title

Leclerc’s personal goals for 2025 are clear: after a career-best season in 2024, where he claimed victories at Monaco, Monza, and Austin, and finished third in the Drivers’ Championship, he is now targeting his first Formula 1 World Championship title. With Lewis Hamilton now joining Ferrari for the first time in his illustrious career, Leclerc sees the seven-time champion’s experience as a source of inspiration for his own journey toward the title.

“I’m really excited about the launch of the SF-25,” Leclerc said. “Every year we push hard to improve, and the whole team has been working flat out for months now. Last season saw a really tight fight, and we came very close to taking the title. This year, our goal is clear: we want to win the Constructors’ World Championship, and my personal target is to win the Drivers’ Title.”

Since Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari, Leclerc has been working closely with the legendary Brit, with both drivers sharing their knowledge and experience to help each other improve. “Since Lewis joined the team, we have already been working very closely together, and I believe that his experience and approach will prove to be a source of inspiration for me,” said Leclerc. “I am physically and mentally more than ready to face this new season, and I can’t wait to get on track to do everything I can to put Scuderia Ferrari back on top.”

With Ferrari making major strides in their car development and Leclerc’s renewed determination, the 2025 season could be a turning point for both the driver and the team as they aim for championship glory.
