Martin Macik celebrated his first victory in a Dakar, by prevailing in the trucks in the 2024 edition. The race ended yesterday with the 12th stage, in which the fastest was Ales Loprais.
The Czech driver from Instaforex Loprais Praga completed the last stage in 1h56m41s, surpassing compatriot Jaroslav Valtr (Tatra Buggyra ZM Racing) by 1m30s. Janus van Kasteren (Boss Machinery Team de Rooy FPT/Iveco) finished third, 1m44s behind, followed by Gert Huzink in the hybrid Renault from Jongbloed Dakar Team.
The fifth time in this stage was more than enough for Macik to seal the absolute triumph. The MM Technology Iveco driver lost only 6m22s to Loprais, and thus celebrated victory in the 2024 Dakar with a 1h54m39s margin over the same rival. Mitchel van den Brink (Eurol Rallysport/Iveco) closed the podium, with Janus van Kasteren (Boss Machinery Team de Rooy FPT/Iveco) in fourth after leading in an early stage.
