Max Verstappen, the star Formula 1 driver, faced a nightmare qualifying session at the Hungarian Grand Prix, expressing utter frustration as he declared that “nothing works” on his Red Bull racing car. The young Dutchman revealed that the RB21 has been severely lacking in grip and direction throughout the entire weekend, leading to a disappointing eighth-place qualification on the grid.

Struggling right from the start of Q1, Verstappen barely avoided an early exit by improving on his final lap. The reigning World Champion has been vocal about his struggles with the car’s performance, even going as far as calling it “undriveable” over team radio during Friday’s sessions.

Despite managing to secure fifth place after the first round of flying laps in Q3, Verstappen couldn’t find the necessary improvement on his second run, ultimately dropping to eighth place for his worst qualifying result of the season. Expressing his discontent with the car’s characteristics, he expressed little hope for a turnaround in the upcoming race.

Verstappen’s criticisms extended to the lack of grip and overall poor performance of the RB21, with no clear explanation identified by the team for their subpar showing at the Hungaroring. The Dutch driver admitted that nothing seemed to work throughout the weekend, leading to a frustrating and challenging experience on the track.

Looking ahead to the race, Verstappen downplayed his chances of making significant progress through the field, acknowledging the competitive advantage of drivers like Lewis Hamilton. Despite his disappointment, he reflected on past challenging weekends but highlighted the unique struggles faced in Hungary.

As the F1 world awaits the Hungarian Grand Prix with bated breath, all eyes are on Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team, hoping for a miraculous turnaround in performance on race day. The young driver’s determination and skill will undoubtedly be put to the test as he navigates the challenging Hungaroring circuit in pursuit of redemption.
