Verstappen triunfa sobre a dupla da McLaren em emocionante F1 Grande Prêmio da Áustria Sprint

Max Verstappen emerged as the winner in an exciting race at the Austrian Grand Prix, surpassing the McLaren drivers in a thrilling battle at the Red Bull Ring. Verstappen engaged in a wheel-to-wheel duel with Lando Norris, ultimately coming out on top. Oscar Piastri managed to secure second place, narrowly beating his teammate. The entire grid, including Alex Albon’s Williams, opted for the medium compound tires for the 24-lap race. However, when the cars lined up on the starting grid, the lights did not turn on, leading to an additional formation lap. Verstappen once again executed a remarkable start, taking the lead uncontested as the cars raced towards Turn 1. Piastri attempted to challenge Norris using the slipstream up the hill to Turn 3, but failed to make a successful overtaking maneuver. George Russell held onto fourth position until Carlos Sainz took the opportunity to pass him on the outside of Turn 4. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc managed to overtake both Alpine drivers and Sergio Perez to secure seventh place, following behind Sainz and the Mercedes duo. With DRS activated, Norris matched Verstappen’s lap times and forced the Red Bull driver to defend his position by covering the inside line at Turns 3 and 4 on the third lap.

Verstappen once again resisted his competitor’s advances on the following lap, but Norris executed a late move on the inside of Turn 3 to take the lead.

However, Verstappen quickly retaliated, using DRS to make a bold move on the inside of the next corner.

Piastri, positioned behind the leaders, seized the opportunity when Norris’ line was compromised and swiftly overtook his teammate.

Sainz struggled to keep up with Verstappen and the two McLarens, and couldn’t prevent Russell from overtaking him with the help of DRS on lap 8.

Verstappen seemed to have overcome the challenge from McLaren as he built a two-second advantage over Piastri, while the Alpine drivers fought for 11th place.

Meanwhile, Norris was closely following his teammate as the race neared its end, but managed to secure second place.

Sainz aimed to split the Mercedes drivers in the standings, but lost Russell’s DRS and Hamilton was now in fifth position.

Up front, Verstappen comfortably crossed the finish line with a four-second advantage, adding another Sprint victory to his impressive record at the Red Bull Ring.

Piastri successfully claimed second place ahead of his McLaren teammate, maintaining the strong performance of the Woking-based team with a double top-three result.

Russell finished a distant fourth in the leading Mercedes car, followed by Sainz’s Ferrari and teammate Hamilton, with Leclerc and Perez completing the points positions.
