Verstappen não está feliz com a velocidade durante a qualificação de F1 em Suzuka.

Max Verstappen expressed his dissatisfaction with his race pace, despite securing pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix in Formula 1. Verstappen dominated all three stages at the Suzuka circuit, maintaining his impeccable record of single lap performances in 2024. This comes after his retirement in the previous race in Australia. He will be joined at the front of the grid by his teammate Sergio Perez, marking Red Bull’s first one-two in qualifying this season. Verstappen praised the Suzuka track and the improvements in the car’s performance, especially in the high-speed sections, which made his qualifying experience even more enjoyable.

Verstappen acknowledged that he was unable to further increase his advantage due to tire overheating. He explained that he started losing time from Turn 13, emphasizing the tire sensitivity at Suzuka. Pushing too hard in Sector 1 caused him to lose grip on the tires towards the end of his final lap. Additionally, the deterioration of his front tires affected his performance in the final chicane, preventing him from hitting the apex as intended. Despite these challenges, Verstappen recognized that his performance was still good enough for pole position, even though he always strives for perfection.

Overall, Verstappen’s dominant performance in qualifying reflects his determination to bounce back from his previous setback. Although he acknowledges areas for improvement, he remains optimistic and focused on delivering a strong performance in the Japanese Grand Prix race.

However, Suzuka has historically been a challenging circuit for overtaking. Verstappen, after analyzing his long runs in practice, expressed caution regarding the race pace of Red Bull. Despite Lando Norris of McLaren taking advantage of Ferrari’s difficulties in qualifying to secure third place, Verstappen believes that Ferrari could pose a threat for the win tomorrow.

Verstappen admitted that he was not satisfied with his long runs so far, as the pace did not meet his expectations. He acknowledged that Ferrari, in particular, seemed very comfortable during their long runs. Although they may not have been as fast in qualifying, Verstappen believes they were definitely fast in the race. He expressed uncertainty about how this will play out in the race and eagerly awaits to see how it unfolds.

When asked about Ferrari’s lack of competitiveness in qualifying, Verstappen could not provide an answer as he does not have access to their garage. However, he acknowledged that it is evident that Ferrari seems competitive during long runs. He hopes to understand the reasons behind this and if it remains true in the race.

Despite the challenges, Verstappen remains hopeful that Red Bull has identified the areas they need to improve. They have already made relevant changes to the setup to improve the balance of the car for the race. Verstappen has some ideas of what needs to be addressed and these adjustments have already been implemented after FP3. He is optimistic that these changes will bring positive results for tomorrow’s race.

Although the pace of the Red Bull race is not as comfortable as Verstappen would like, he is hopeful that the modifications made will lead to a better performance. He acknowledges that this year and last year he did not feel as comfortable in some of the races. However, he believes that the changes made will contribute to a better performance in tomorrow’s race.
