Verstappen: Alignment of Formula 1 in 2024 resulted from limited rules.

Verstappen believes that the fierce competition in the 2024 Formula 1 season is the result of the current regulations being too restrictive compared to previous rules. Red Bull has been dominant since the reintroduction of ground effect cars in 2022, with Verstappen winning 19 out of 22 races in the last season. However, despite starting this season with four wins in the first six races, Red Bull’s rivals have closed the gap and put pressure on the reigning champions. McLaren has stood out as the most consistent challenger, with Lando Norris securing a victory in Miami and delivering great performances in Imola and Canada. Ferrari and Mercedes have also proven to be real threats in the championship. Verstappen denies that the RB20 car has performed poorly and attributes the convergence of the grid to other teams replicating Red Bull’s concept. He acknowledges that the current regulations limit creative freedom and make it easier for teams to reach a performance limit. Verstappen hopes that his rivals will continue to close in and recognizes the need to perform at his best in every race to maintain the championship lead.
