Max Verstappen, the Dutch driver for Red Bull Racing, raised concerns about the technical issue that caused him to stop during the second practice session at the Canadian Grand Prix. Verstappen, who had performed well in the first practice session completing a lap on slick tires, was unable to continue due to a problem with the Energy Recovery System of his RB20 car. This setback, which left him in 18th place at the end of FP2, may have consequences for the rest of the season. Verstappen explained that there was a suspected electrical issue and that the team is currently investigating the matter. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez, also faced challenges during the practice sessions due to changes in weather conditions. Although Perez managed to secure 10th place in the later session times, he acknowledged that the results were inconclusive. With more rain forecasted throughout the weekend, Perez emphasized the importance of timing during qualifying. He noted that track conditions were constantly changing and being on the track at the right moment would be crucial. Despite the difficulties, Perez mentioned that he gathered some information about the car’s performance but warned against drawing definitive conclusions due to the weather’s dominance over the track.
