After a successful performance in Monaco, where the SF-24 proved to be the most competitive car, Ferrari faced difficulties with tire temperatures in Montreal, resulting in the elimination of both drivers in Q2 and the failure to finish the race. Charles Leclerc had engine problems early on, which caused him to lose significant time, while Carlos Sainz spun and collided with Alex Albon. Vasseur reflected on whether this was the team’s worst performance since taking over in 2022, acknowledging that it was not the best, but emphasizing the need to remain focused and united. Ferrari’s recent success in Monaco reduced the gap to Red Bull, but Max Verstappen’s victory increased the deficit.
