The head of the Ferrari team, Frederic Vasseur, suggested that they are conducting interviews with people “from all teams” on the Formula 1 grid to strengthen their technical division.
The Italian team has been actively recruiting since Vasseur took over, and there are rumors that renowned designer Adrian Newey could be the next addition. Newey, who has an impressive track record with 25 championships, has long been a target for Ferrari and is expected to leave Red Bull in the spring.
McLaren CEO, Zak Brown, believes that Newey’s possible move to Ferrari could trigger a series of changes within Red Bull, as tensions have escalated since team boss Christian Horner’s investigation. Brown even revealed that people from Red Bull approached McLaren about a possible swap, a sentiment echoed by Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff.
When asked about the heated exchanges during the Miami Grand Prix weekend, Vasseur downplayed the situation, suggesting it was mainly between Toto and Horner. He also joked that Brown had stirred up the latest topic of discussion in the F1 paddock.
Vasseur emphasized that he prefers to stay out of these debates, as his focus is on getting Ferrari back to the top. He believes that internal improvements, recruitment, and car development should take precedence over conflicts with colleagues.
Addressing rumors that Ferrari is hiring engineers from Mercedes, Vasseur casually mentioned that they are considering options from all teams and that many interviews are taking place in Maranello, including with people from Mercedes.
