Stoffel Vandoorne, the reigning champion of FIA Formula E Season 8, has decided to part ways with the DS Penske team after spending two seasons with them.
During his time with the Franco-American outfit, the Belgian driver faced significant challenges, finishing in 11th and 10th place in the respective seasons. Despite arriving as the reigning champion with Mercedes-EQ, Vandoorne’s best result was a third-place finish in Monaco during Season 10. This was also the only podium finish for the team and marked his first top three result in nearly two years.
Jay Penske, the Team Principal, expressed his gratitude towards Vandoorne and acknowledged his exceptional performances for DS Penske. He wished him the best for his future endeavors.
In response, Vandoorne thanked DS Penske for the incredible experience and their unwavering support throughout his journey with the team. He is now looking forward to a new challenge ahead.
Vandoorne’s departure from the team confirms recent speculations about his potential move. There have been strong rumors suggesting a switch to Maserati MSG Racing, possibly involving a swap with Max Günther. It is believed that Günther will partner with Jean-Eric Vergne starting from Season 11.
