Valtteri Bottas Makes Bold Move by Offering Himself to Red Bull for 2022 F1 Season

In a shocking turn of events, Valtteri Bottas has thrown his hat in the ring for a potential spot at Red Bull for the upcoming Formula 1 season. The Finnish driver, currently serving as Mercedes’ test and reserve driver, has expressed his eagerness to return to a full-time racing seat and believes that Red Bull might benefit from his experience alongside star driver Max Verstappen.

Bottas, who is facing his first year without a permanent F1 seat since his debut in 2013, is well aware of the uncertainty surrounding Red Bull’s second driver position. With both Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda failing to impress as long-term solutions, the team is in desperate need of a seasoned driver to support Verstappen in his championship aspirations.

While Red Bull has a pool of talented young drivers in their academy, including Isack Hadjar and F2 driver Arvid Lindblad, the consensus is leaning towards the necessity of experience to extract the maximum performance from the RB21 car. Bottas, speaking on the Beyond the Grid Podcast, highlighted the challenges of driving the Red Bull car at its limits and hinted that his experience could be the missing piece in the team’s puzzle.

“I think they know that I’m keen to race. They know that I would be available for next year, but I don’t know their mindset on that,” Bottas shared, emphasizing his interest in securing a race seat for the upcoming season.

As the speculation around Red Bull’s second driver intensifies, Bottas’ unexpected open application adds a new twist to the ongoing saga. Will Red Bull take a chance on the seasoned driver to complement Verstappen’s undeniable talent on the track? Only time will tell as the F1 grid continues to evolve leading up to the 2022 season.
