In a shocking turn of events in the world of Formula 1, Mercedes star driver Valtteri Bottas has unveiled the team’s enthusiasm following Lewis Hamilton’s departure. The Finnish driver expressed his excitement about the new driver lineup at Mercedes, with George Russell and Kimi Antonelli taking the reins and making waves in the 2025 season.

Russell and Antonelli have propelled Mercedes to third place in the constructors’ championship, with Russell securing an impressive four podium finishes and Antonelli amassing an impressive 48 points in his first nine races in F1. The 18-year-old Antonelli stepped into Hamilton’s shoes after the legendary seven-time world champion made a bold move to Ferrari in pursuit of an eighth world title. Since then, Hamilton has struggled, lagging behind Russell by 40 points.

Bottas, who now serves as Mercedes’ reserve driver after being dropped by Sauber, hinted at a shift in dynamics within the team since Hamilton’s departure. He highlighted the anticipation surrounding Russell as the new team leader and Antonelli as a promising talent for the future. Despite the changes, Bottas emphasized that the winning mentality and work ethic at Mercedes remain unwavering.

Speculations are rife about Bottas potentially returning to full-time racing in 2026, with opportunities at McLaren, Williams, and the new Cadillac team on the horizon. The Finn has made it clear that Mercedes would support his decision to explore other options mid-2025, opening up possibilities for his comeback to the grid in the near future.

As the F1 season unfolds, all eyes are on Mercedes’ evolving lineup and the performances of Russell and Antonelli. Stay tuned for more updates on the thrilling developments in the world of Formula 1.
