Valentino Rossi’s Heartbreaking Loss in Imola 6 Hours Thriller: Ferrari Triumphs In Epic Showdown

Imola 6 Hours: Ferrari Triumphs, Valentino Rossi’s Heartbreak

In a stunning display of dominance, Ferrari secures victory on home turf at Imola during the 2025 World Endurance Championship, clinching their second win of the season. The #51 Ferrari 499P Le Mans Hypercar, piloted by James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Alessandro Pier Guidi, claimed the top spot with a narrow 8.4-second lead, after a race that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The Imola 6 Hours witnessed intense competition, with BMW, Alpine, Toyota, and Porsche emerging as formidable contenders in the later stages of the race. BMW and Alpine achieved their best results in the WEC so far, securing second and third place respectively with their LMDh machinery. The #20 WRT BMW Hybrid V8 and the Alpine team put up a fierce fight, finishing closely behind the victorious Ferrari.

The AF Corse Ferrari dominated the race from pole position, with Calado maintaining a significant lead over their competitors. Strategic pit stops and well-executed tactics kept the race unpredictable, allowing Pier Guidi to take the lead towards the end and secure the victory for Ferrari.

However, the race was not without its share of heartbreak. Motorcycle racing legend Valentino Rossi, driving for the BMW WRT team in the LMGT3 class, was on the verge of a historic victory when his hopes were dashed in the final moments. Rossi, alongside teammates Ahmad Al Harthy and Kelvin van der Linde, narrowly missed out on first place after a dramatic turn of events involving the #21 Ferrari 296 GT3.

Rossi’s misfortune came in the form of a drive-through penalty, stripping him of what seemed like an imminent win and relegating him to a bittersweet finish. Despite the setback, Rossi’s performance showcased his skill and determination on four wheels, adding another layer of excitement to the already thrilling race.

The Imola 6 Hours delivered high-octane action, unexpected twists, and a mix of triumph and despair for the competitors, solidifying its place as a standout event in the World Endurance Championship.
