McLaren Refuses to Take a Break: Continues Development on 2025 F1 Car Despite Massive Lead

The competition is fierce in the world of Formula 1, but McLaren is not letting their guard down. Despite a significant lead in the championship, McLaren’s boss, Andrea Stella, has declared that there will be no halt in the development of the team’s 2025 Formula 1 car.

After clinching the Constructors’ title in 2024, McLaren has shown no signs of slowing down in the current season. With a remarkable performance in the first six races, McLaren has secured victories in all but one race, establishing a staggering 102-point lead over Mercedes. Oscar Piastri leads the standings, closely followed by Lando Norris.

As McLaren heads into the European leg with a comfortable lead, questions arose about whether the team would shift focus to the next season earlier than planned. While other teams have started transitioning towards the 2026 regulations, Andrea Stella revealed that McLaren is not ready to shift entirely yet.

Stella emphasized, “We are still definitely keeping interest and momentum on this year’s car because, like I said before, we are not giving anything for granted. We need to improve the car, especially in some conditions, and we are planning to do so with some upgrades.”

While acknowledging the importance of preparing for the 2026 regulations, Stella highlighted the team’s strategic approach to utilize resources efficiently. He mentioned, “At some stage, we will shift our focus entirely on 2026. But definitely, even if the championships are in a good position, we have not given up attention on this year’s car.”

With McLaren’s commitment to continuous improvement and strategic planning, the competition in the F1 championship is set to intensify as the season progresses. Fans can expect thrilling races as McLaren pushes the boundaries of performance in their quest for glory.
