In a jaw-dropping display of speed and power, the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte witnessed record-breaking performances on Friday that left fans and competitors alike in awe.
The track at zMAX Dragway saw Top Fuel’s Doug Kalitta setting the track E.T. record, securing the provisional No. 1 qualifier position. However, it was Brittany Force who stole the show by making history with the fastest run in Top Fuel history, hitting an incredible 341.58mph.
The night was filled with adrenaline as Paul Lee in Funny Car, Dallas Glenn in Pro Stock, and Gaige Herrera in Pro Stock Motorcycle also claimed the provisional No. 1 qualifier spots, showcasing their exceptional skills and speed.
Kalitta’s outstanding run of 3.646s at 333.74mph and Force’s incredible 3.667s at 341.58mph marked a momentous occasion at the 1,000th Top Fuel race in NHRA history. The drivers pushed the limits of speed and precision, setting new milestones in their respective categories.
“It was the opportunity of the weekend, really, for all of us,” said Kalitta. “With the 1,000th race, it’s cool, and there’s a cool trophy.” Meanwhile, Force expressed her excitement, stating, “To go 341mph, that’s awesome, and we’re all really excited about that.”
The competition heated up in Funny Car, with Paul Lee storming to the No. 1 position with a standout run of 3.829s at 328.54mph. Lee’s stellar performance showcased the team’s remarkable progress and potential, putting him back in the points lead.
In Pro Stock, Dallas Glenn and Greg Anderson continued their impressive streak, both posting identical 6.502s runs. Glenn’s speed of 211.10mph edged out Anderson for the top spot, setting the stage for a fierce battle for the No. 1 qualifier award.
Defending world champion Gaige Herrera dominated the Pro Stock Motorcycle category, clocking a remarkable 6.680s at 201.64mph to claim the provisional No. 1 spot. Herrera’s exceptional performance highlighted his skill and determination as he aimed for his milestone 25th career No. 1 qualifier.
As the qualifying rounds continue at the American Rebel Light NHRA 4-Wide Nationals, the stage is set for an electrifying weekend of high-speed action at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.
