In a jaw-dropping display of skill and precision, Antonio Giovinazzi and Dries Vanthoor dominated the second free practice session at Imola for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Imola, both setting an identical blazing lap time of 1:31.040.

Giovinazzi, in the #51 Ferrari 499P, and Vanthoor, in the #15 BMW M Hybrid V8, left spectators in awe as they matched each other’s pace perfectly, with Giovinazzi ultimately claiming the top spot by setting his record lap on his fourth attempt, just ahead of Vanthoor.

The competition was fierce as Mick Schumacher in the #36 Alpine A424 secured the third spot, trailing behind the leading duo by a mere quarter of a second. Antonio Fuoco, Giovinazzi’s teammate in the #50 Ferrari, followed closely in fourth place, only 0.354 seconds adrift from the leader.

Further down the leaderboard, Robin Frijns in the sister #20 BMW showcased a strong performance, landing in fifth place, with Sebastien Bourdais in the first of the Cadillacs closely behind in sixth place.

In the LMGT3 category, Clemens Schmid set the pace in the #87 ASP Lexus RC F GT3 with a lightning-fast time of 1:42.944, leading the pack with finesse. Finn Gehrsitz in the sister #78 ASP Lexus and Kelvin van der Linde in the #46 WRT BMW M4 GT3 followed closely behind in second and third place, respectively.

As the anticipation builds, all eyes are now on the upcoming FP3 session at Imola on Saturday at 10:40 am local time, promising even more heart-stopping action and fierce competition on the track. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling event.
