Unleashing History: Ayrton Senna’s Legendary V10 Engine Up for Auction at Monterey Car Week

Revolutionary Auction: Ayrton Senna’s V10 Engine Up for Grabs!

Revolutionary news for motorsport enthusiasts as Honda Racing Corporation breaks into the memorabilia market with an unprecedented move – auctioning off parts of Ayrton Senna’s iconic V10 engine that led him to victory in the 1990 F1 world championship. This groundbreaking auction is set to take place during the prestigious Monterey Car Week in August 2025, sending shockwaves through the racing community.

HRC President Koji Watanabe expressed his excitement, stating, “We aim to make this a valuable business that allows fans who love F1, MotoGP, and various other races to share in the history of Honda’s challenges in racing since the 1950s.” This bold initiative marks the beginning of a continuous venture to allow fans to own a piece of Honda’s illustrious racing history.

The star of the auction will undoubtedly be the RA100E engine, meticulously disassembled by its original builders in Sakura City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Each component, from camshafts to pistons, will be showcased in display cases accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, offering fans a unique opportunity to own a piece of racing history.

The McLaren MP4/5B, the car housing this legendary engine, was a masterpiece designed by Neil Oatley that clinched both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships. With the 3.5-litre engine churning out 690-710 horsepower at 13,500 rpm, it was a force to be reckoned with on the track. Ayrton Senna’s prowess behind the wheel propelled him to victory in six Grands Prix that season, with teammate Gerhard Berger securing seven podium finishes.

Having enjoyed successful partnerships with McLaren and Red Bull in the past, Honda is now gearing up for a new chapter with Aston Martin from 2026, where they will be crafting power units for the renowned Silverstone-based team. Despite the challenges that lie ahead, Honda remains steadfast in their commitment to excellence in the world of motorsport.

Get ready to witness history in the making as Honda opens the doors for fans to own a piece of Formula 1’s most iconic moments. Stay tuned for updates on this monumental auction that is set to redefine the memorabilia market as we know it.
