In a significant move to bolster its maritime patrol capabilities, the U.S. Navy has awarded L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) a comprehensive contract to provide depot maintenance, repair, and overhaul support for its P-8A Poseidon aircraft fleet. This fleet plays a pivotal role in maritime patrol, long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
L3Harris has a well-established history in this domain, having provided decades of support for the P-3 Orion, the predecessor to the P-8 Poseidon. The company’s experience spans multiple countries, including Brazil, New Zealand, and the Republic of Korea, where it has delivered sustainment and modification support to their P-3 fleets.
Jason Lambert, President of ISR at L3Harris, expressed pride in the company’s longstanding relationship with the U.S. Navy: “We are proud of our longstanding tradition of providing the U.S. Navy with integration and sustainment solutions for mission success,” said Lambert. “We also look forward to supporting the Navy’s international military partners as part of this new award.”
L3Harris will begin working on the 135-aircraft P-8A Poseidon fleet at its Waco, Texas facility this year, with the contract set to run through September 2029.
