The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has requested information from Tesla regarding a series of traffic code violations committed by its robotaxis in Austin, Texas.
According to reports from “Reuters,” these violations include speeding, driving in the wrong lane, and sudden braking, which were recorded in various videos published on social media.
In light of these incidents, the NHTSA aims to obtain more information from the company led by Elon Musk about the incidents recorded during the debut of Tesla’s new robotaxi that took place last weekend.
The debut of Tesla’s robotaxi occurred in Austin, where about a dozen autonomous vehicles and passengers were invited by the American electric vehicle brand, who paid $4.20, approximately €3.90 per trip.
It should be noted that the robotaxis are Model Y vehicles, fully autonomous; however, in this initial phase of testing with passengers, they will have a Tesla safety monitor sitting in the front passenger seat.
