60% of Tyler Reddick’s victories in NASCAR Cup races have occurred on Road Courses. Reddick, who is part of the 23XI Racing team, is widely considered one of the best Road Course drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series. Of his five Cup race victories, three came from events on road courses, and his first two victories were on similar tracks. This Sunday, Reddick will be competing in his first Road Course race of the 2024 season at COTA.
Before the race weekend, Reddick sat down with a former NASCAR Cup champion on a podcast called “happy hour.” During the interview, Reddick discussed how a Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) driver played a significant role in his development as a Road Course driver. He recalled an incident from the 2020 ROVAL race, where his late braking caused a collision that ended the race with Kevin Harvick while both were competing in P30. This experience motivated Reddick to never find himself in such a position again.
As Reddick prepares for the upcoming race at COTA, he will be relying on his skills and previous success on the track. In the 2023 season, he secured a victory for the 23XI team at the same location. However, he will face tough competition from his Toyota teammate, who has excelled this season and is determined to secure a win.
It is important to highlight that the 23XI Racing team will be introducing a third car at COTA, driven by a former Formula 1 driver and legend of sports car racing. This driver, who currently competes for Toyota in the WRC, impressed Reddick with his skills on Road Courses and his ability to quickly adapt to the Next-Gen car. This will be the driver’s second Cup race in NASCAR, following his debut at Indy last year. Although the driver faced challenges due to the aggressive racing style at Brickyard, he is now more prepared to handle them.
