VIDEO: Ty Gibbs Goes Airborne in Clash with Justin Haley at Bowman Gray Stadium!

The Madhouse lived up to its reputation at Bowman Gray Stadium, and Ty Gibbs found himself right in the middle of the mayhem—literally. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver saw his hopes of making the 2025 NASCAR Cook Out Clash crushed after a wild Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) wreck involving Spire Motorsports’ Justin Haley.

🔥 Gibbs vs. Haley: When Retaliation Backfires!

Gibbs, the 2022 Xfinity Series champion and grandson of team owner Joe Gibbs, came into 2025 with a chip on his shoulder, still searching for his first Cup Series win. But his shot at a strong start to the season ended in spectacular fashion on Lap 65 of the LCQ.

🏎️ The Setup:

  • Ty Gibbs failed to advance from the heat races, making him the only JGR driver forced into the LCQ.
  • During the qualifier, Gibbs and Haley tangled as they battled for a top-two transfer spot.
  • Haley spun Gibbs out, ruining his shot at making the main event.

⚠️ The Payback Gone Wrong:
Furious with Haley, Gibbs did what Gibbs does best—retaliate. The No. 54 Toyota Camry lined up behind the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevy, looking to deliver a message.

🚀 Instead of just bumping Haley, Gibbs’ car lifted off the ground, went airborne, and slammed into the outside barriers!

Haley? He got away with just a trip through the infield grass!

🏁 Gibbs Admits He Misjudged the Hit

In a post-race interview, Gibbs was surprisingly candid about what happened:

🗣️ Gibbs on His Failed Retaliation:
“I don’t know, I just had a little left front damage and gave him a little tap, but didn’t mean to make it that big… Stiff, but they’re all pretty stiff in this thing, so.”

Translation? He didn’t mean to wreck himself too.

⏳ What This Means for Gibbs in 2025

1️⃣ Aggression Meter: Maxed Out – Ty Gibbs has never been shy about rubbing fenders or getting payback, but this was next level. Expect more fireworks from the JGR youngster this season.

2️⃣ Still Winless, Still Under Pressure – With no Cup wins in two full seasons, Gibbs has a lot to prove in 2025. Missing the Clash was not the ideal start.

3️⃣ Is a Haley-Gibbs Feud Brewing? – Haley had already been in a tangle earlier in the weekend, and now with Gibbs taking flight after their clash, this could be Round 1 of a season-long rivalry.

💭 Did Ty Gibbs just set the tone for a “No Holds Barred” 2025 season? Will this rivalry with Haley boil over? Drop your takes below! ⬇️🔥
