Two individuals from the German city of Wuppertal were arrested on Wednesday after attempting to extort a significant amount of money from the Schumacher family, according to a Bild report. The specific details of the extortion plan were not disclosed.
Public prosecutors in Wuppertal have initiated an investigation into the blackmail case against a prominent figure. As a result, arrests have been made in connection with the ongoing investigation. However, the spokesperson refrained from disclosing the identity of the individual involved.
Despite the development, a representative of Schumacher has not yet responded to a request for comment on the matter.
In 2017, a man received a suspended sentence from a court in Reutlingen after sending an email threatening to harm Schumacher’s children unless they paid him a sum of 900,000 euros ($960,000).
Since suffering a severe brain injury in a skiing accident during a family trip in the French Alps in December 2013, Schumacher has not made any public appearances. His family maintains strict privacy measures regarding his condition, limiting access only to those closest to him.
