Yuki Tsunoda Impresses in First Suzuka Practice, Lando Norris Leads the Way

Excitement filled the air during the first Formula 1 practice session at Suzuka as home hero Yuki Tsunoda showcased his skills, finishing just one place behind Max Verstappen. The newly-promoted Red Bull driver left spectators in awe with his performance, proving his worth on the track.

Tsunoda’s impressive run saw him only 0.107 seconds adrift from his teammate, Verstappen, as both Red Bulls secured fifth and sixth positions on the timesheets. Meanwhile, Liam Lawson, who transitioned to Racing Bulls, found himself in the 13th spot, trailing behind Isack Hadjar.

Championship leader Lando Norris set the pace for McLaren, leading the session ahead of George Russell and Charles Leclerc. The session also saw some thrilling moments, including Norris’s gravel excursion and Carlos Sainz’s pit lane mishap, adding to the drama on the track.

As Tsunoda adapted to his new Red Bull Racing car, he demonstrated a mix of caution and aggression, gradually gaining confidence with each lap. Despite a minor setback at the chicane, the young driver impressed with his control and clear communication with the team, hinting at a promising future at Red Bull.

The session also featured standout performances from other drivers, such as Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli and Alpine’s reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa, who delivered impressive lap times. With the competition heating up, all eyes are now on the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix to see which driver will emerge victorious on race day.
