Toyota is set to celebrate a major milestone in its racing history at the upcoming Le Mans 24 Hours by unveiling a special livery on its #7 Toyota GR010 HYBRID Le Mans Hypercar. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Toyota’s inaugural factory-supported endeavor at Le Mans, and the team is pulling out all the stops to pay homage to its racing legacy.
The unique livery, inspired by Toyota’s iconic GT-One from the late 1990s, will adorn the #7 GR010 driven by Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway, and Nyck de Vries. The color scheme will harken back to the GT-One’s distinctive red and white design, reimagined for the modern era with dynamic white flashes that evoke memories of the TS020.
Toyota’s journey at Le Mans dates back to 1985, with the evolution of various Toyota or Toyota-powered vehicles competing over the years. From the early days of the Dome 85C Group C chassis to the present-day GR010 HYBRID, Toyota has continuously pushed the boundaries of endurance racing.
Having participated in a total of 61 entries at Le Mans, Toyota boasts an impressive track record, including five overall victories, 18 podium finishes, and eight pole positions. The team’s commitment to innovation and performance has solidified its position as a dominant force in endurance racing.
As Toyota gears up for the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours, fans can expect a thrilling display of speed, skill, and nostalgia as the #7 and #8 Toyota entries take to the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe.
