Toyota announced on Thursday that its global production and sales increased for the fourth consecutive month in April, driven by strong demand for hybrid vehicles and a rise in purchases in the U.S. due to the import tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
The world’s largest automaker reported a 10% increase in global sales in April, totaling 876,864 vehicles, while sales in the U.S. also rose by the same percentage.
The Japanese automaker also announced that in the first four months of 2025, sales of hybrid vehicles accounted for approximately 44% of Toyota’s total global sales.
Regarding production, the company announced that in the fourth month of the year, global production recorded an 8% growth compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 814,787 vehicles.
This growth was supported by increased production in Japan and in the markets of North America, South America, and China. Toyota also revealed that the growth in production and sales includes the premium brand Lexus.
