Toyota Motor Europe (TME) announced that it sold 635,300 vehicles in the first half of the year, representing a 1% increase compared to the previous year and outperforming the overall market, which fell by 1.54%.
According to the Japanese company, strong demand for electrified vehicles from the Toyota and Lexus brands contributed to the growth in sales of the Japanese brand, with a 6% increase compared to the previous year, now representing 77% of TME’s total sales.
Toyota maintained its position as the second strongest brand of passenger cars, with a 1% increase in sales, while Lexus grew by 7% and achieved a market share of 2.5% among premium brands.
Toyota Professional, the light commercial vehicle brand, increased sales by 12% compared to the previous year. Sales of battery electric vehicles from Toyota and Lexus rose by 42% compared to 2024, while plug-in hybrid volumes grew by 186% and hybrid models by 2% in the same period.
“Despite the various market challenges, we are confident that demand for electrified vehicles from the Toyota and Lexus brands remains strong. This proves the strength of our product portfolio, which includes a wide range of low-emission electric vehicles”, said Till Conrad, Executive Vice President of Sales at Toyota Motor Europe.
